MET: Medical Evangelism Training
Medical Evangelism Training (MET) Program
-
The Medical Evangelism Training (MET) Program offers North American college students an immersive six-week mission experience focused on medical evangelism. Participants receive classroom instruction in language, culture, basic health skills, and missiology, paired with hands-on field training alongside full-time medical evangelists. From the coast to the highlands of Guatemala, MET students shadow experienced medical missionaries and serve through primary mobile clinics, gaining real-world experience that thoughtfully integrates faith, healthcare, and compassionate service.
-
The MET Program is designed for students considering medical missions as a life path. Over six weeks, students explore how medical care can be a form of ministry, working directly with communities in Guatemala. Classroom learning, fieldwork, and service opportunities give participants a clear understanding of how their skills and faith can make an impact.
-
The MET Program is perfect for pre-med, pre-dentistry, nursing, missions, and other students interested in combining healthcare and ministry. Preference is given to juniors and seniors who are members of the Church of Christ, but all students passionate about serving in a medical mission context are encouraged to apply. Typically, 10-12 students are selected nationwide each year.
-
MET participants are not just observers—they actively engage in mission work. From providing medical care to assisting in community projects, students experience the challenges and rewards of medical evangelism. The program emphasizes practical learning and spiritual growth, encouraging students to consider how they can serve both locally and globally.
